A very unseasonal January day provided a moody backdrop for this spectacular Yallingup elopement. I was contacted some months previous by a very special couple who were planning to run away and get hitched. No frills, on the beach, with just their very close friends, and a man with a guitar. I was DOWN!
The wonderful Joanne Armstrong handled the official duties. Joanne kept her poise as mother nature tried her best to sweep us off the beach.
Injidup Beach, 9am. COLD. Rain, stormy seas whipped up by a 30knot sou’wester and a 4 metre swell. Sand blowing sideways across the beach and WA’s most celebrated surfer Taj Burrow pulling on the rubber for his daily dose of the salt. It certainly didn’t feel like your average wedding day. Once the official duties were over with, the couple danced on the sand with their squad. Fittingly, the union was blessed with a high five from TB and we were off to make some pictures. No schedule, no clocks, just two people in love and a whole day ahead of us.
We spent time all along our beautiful coastline finally finishing up near Cape Naturaliste on sunset. As much as I’d love to be able to share all of the amazing moments from this day, our mystery couple need to keep this on the down low for a little bit. I’m cool with that. So I can only share a few teasers. Oh yeah, they also played with a snake. Weird.
